The Carolina Chapter of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society is located in central North Carolina. Founded in 1992, the chapter counts 80 human factors professionals and students as its members. Represented companies and organizations include IBM, North Carolina State University, HumanCentric Technologies, SAS, Methodist College, and Duke University. This past year we had four business meetings and two social events. Talks in the recent past have included Human Factors in the Railroad industry, an invited lecture by Don Norman, the design of lighting systems used to inspect automotive paint, and how human factors is integrated into a major telecommmunications company. Social events include an annual cookout in the summer and a holiday party in December.
